Buyer--Manufacturing

Our new state-of-the-art manufacturing and divisional office facility in San Marcos, TX is off and running and we continue to grow!  Gardco and Wide-Lite, two industry leaders who both enjoy strong national and international reputations in the design and manufacture of HID Lighting and Controls and are proud members of the Genlyte Group family, are now being serviced by a joint manufacturing facility known as San Marcos Operations.

 

To help support our continued growth and position us for very bright future projections we need to add a SENIOR BUYER to our Purchasing Department team.  The incumbent will negotiate with vendors to obtain quotations, prices, and delivery times and evaluate vendor quotes and services to determine if they are compatible with company objectives.  He/she may also review opportunities for new supply sources and suitability of materials offered.  The Sr. Buyer monitors the quality of goods, reviews costs, schedules, timeliness of delivery and conformance to specifications.  Heavy emphasis on MRP and planning.  He/she may be responsible for training or mentoring less seasoned buyers to aid in their personal development.

 

REQUIRED KEY COMPETENCIES:

 Strong knowledge of MRP and planning. Excellent negotiation skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and successfully manage multiple priorities. Good PC skills including working with data bases and Microsoft Office software. Equally effectgive working as an individual or part of a team. Excellent problem solving ability and organizational skills. Ability to "think outside of the box" and use creativity to address changing organizational needs. High energy approach to projected growth and organizational change and the ability and desired to do sustained hard work.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 Bachelor's degree with at least five years of progressively responsible purchasing responsibilities in a manufacturing operation. APICS or C.P.M. certificatin is a strong plus. Experience working with suppliers outside of the U.S. is highly desirable.
