Buyer/Procurement Specialist # 1819

Role Purpose: GKN Driveline - Torque Technology Group - has an
opportunity for a Buyer/Procurement Specialist to join our
team in Bowling Green, Ohio. This person will be responsible
for the purchase of indirect and MRO materials in Bowling
Green and support of the direct material purchasing team in
Auburn Hills, MI
Key Responsibilities:
Based on plant requests, place orders with existing sources based on agreed pricing
Using MFGPro, convert requisitions to purchase orders, follow up with suppliers on delivery, meet plant and manager savings expectations
Disposal of scrap materials
Develop alternate sources, ensuring competitive pricing, and being aware of non-price considerations
Advise management of market conditions and supplier base activity which could affect pricing and/or delivery
Gain familiarity with the end use of purchased commodities, leading to the possibility of alternate materials or specifications
Obtain quotations and make comparisons to achieve best overall cost advantage
Generate effective communications, good relations, and a positive image with suppliers and co-workers, promoting courtesy, objectivity and fairness
Maintain records and performance of current supplier base
Ensure lead times are updated in system to reflect actual delivery information from supplier
Assist any/all departments or individuals in area of his/her expertise

Required Experiences:
5 + years Purchasing experience
