CATEGORY MANAGER, Health & Beauty Aides

At Wakefern Food Corporation, we are setting a new standard for success. We are the nation?s largest retailer-owned cooperative, and the wholesale distribution and merchandising arm for ShopRite supermarkets. We currently have an opportunity for a Category Manager to work in Jamesburg, NJ.

As a Category Manager, you will be accountable for the development, implementation, and sales of designated categories. You will interpret consumer trends, competitive pressures, and demographic considerations in order to assure the profitability of the category. Additional responsibilities include: analyzing and interpreting data from syndicated sources; setting, implementing, and monitoring category objectives; formulating business plans and implementation tactics for item assortment, planograms, pricing, promotion, advertising and logistics; presenting Category Business Plans to the Committee and to management; negotiating with vendors to get the lowest possible costs; managing and monitoring category scorecards; working with Merchandisers to ensure proper shelf allocations/Plan-O-Gramming during the Category Business Planning and program implementation phases; and conducting 2-3 multi-zone and competitor store visits per month.

Candidates must possess a Bachelors degree. A minimum of 2 years of procurement experience in health in beauty aides (HABC) is preferred, but not required. Working knowledge of data and information systems along with excellent communication, analytical, presentation, leadership, organizational, and PC (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) skills are required. Applicants must be able to work effectively with all levels, create and initiate effective procurement programs, and deal with conflict within a team structure and among trading partners.
