DESA LLC, a leading manufacturer of consumer and construction products sold through distribution and retailers has an opening at its corporate headquarters in Bowling Green, Kentucky for a Commodity Manager.

 

Responsibilities of the position encompass managing the supply and inventory levels of assigned products and components, working closely with international suppliers and other disciplines within the company to produce the required results. Additional responsibilities include:Ability to multi task to handle several products, projects and suppliers simultaneously. Frequently communicate with persons for whom English is a second language. Interpret technical specifications and documents to suppliers. Evaluate the qualifications of potential suppliers to produce desired products. Develop long term relationships with supplier personnel, initiate and terminates long term contracts, evaluate pricing initiatives, work with suppliers to resolve quality issues, supply issues, timeliness of delivery issues and any other issues which may arise in the supplier / customer relationship. Place and track purchase orders as necessary. Frequent international travel is required.

 

The successful candidate will have a bachelor?s degree, preferably in a technical or business discipline, with 3 to 5 year?s international experience including demonstrated accomplishments in manufacturing disciplines such as quality, engineering, materials or purchasing. Excellent communications skills are required. Qualified candidates must be competent in PC and AS400 computer applications.
