Cost Reduction Engineer

Carrier?s Transicold division is a global force in transport refrigeration and air conditioning. The selected candidate will report to the Cost Reduction Manger and will work on material cost reduction activities with the supply base, manufacturing facility and business unit engineering organizations. This position is responsible for tracking, substantiating, and reporting monthly cost variance.
?Work individually and with cross-functional teams on new and existing products to develop parts cost optimization programs. This may be accomplished through techniques such as design analysis, material substitution or standardization, part count reduction, design and manufacturing process simplification or other proven cost optimization techniques.
?Implement improvements for cost optimization, cycle time reduction initiatives with suppliers, and process improvements.
?Work closely with suppliers in establishing relationships
The position requires the individual to have experience in ManMan and Microsoft Office Applications including Access.
Establish supplier programs to investigate new technologies or processes that will yield better quality/cost position.
?Work/Lead Auctions, Low cost sourcing programs.
?Investigate and initiate Supplier charge backs.
?Analyze Warranty data to manage MPR (Mandatory Part returns) and implement improvements for better recovery.



?Bachelor?s degree in mechanical, industrial or electrical engineering required, Masters Degree preferred
?Minimum 2 years experience applying engineering skills in product design or operations/manufacturing.
?Experience in supply chain optimization, value stream engineering or ACE or Six Sigma is a plus
?Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing costs systems and/or cost accounting
?The position requires the individual to have experience in ManMan and Microsoft Office Applications including Access.
