Cost Specialist

$10B+ automotive Tier 1 industry leader seeking a sharp, degreed professionals for a newly created position in our corporate purchasing group. We are looking for strong analytical talent who can help us standardize our purchasing procedures to reduce cost and create cost effective purchasing function. Respo   Analyze purchased material costs by product BOM to compare with similar platforms within region (plant) and globally.  To determine if costs are consistent across product lines.

?  Determine global and regional prices for raw material; identify areas for cost reduction opportunity

?  Develop pricing tables for quoting and estimating to improve timelines and effectiveness in the quoting process

?  Develop cost breakdown template to be completed with Supplier quotations

?  Analyzation of cost data; develop models to compare current cost/pricing; prepare commodity buyers for negotiations

?  Development of a VA process that can be institutionalized with engineering, manufacturing, sales, etc.

?  Review current steel pricing (s/c and base pricing) for opportunities, recoveries, best practices

?  Review effectiveness of tracking steel price adjustments

?  Develop a rational business case for consignment inventory at no increase in unit price (e.g. Supply ON)

 

  ?  Educational Requirements:

o Bachelor?s degree in Business or related field.

?  Experience Requirements:

o 3-5 years of automotive purchasing experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

?  Other Requirements:

o Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information. Ability to collect and research data; synthesize complex or diverse information; use intuition and experience to complement data; creative problem solving. Knowledge of cost analysis techniques. Strong negotiations skills. Ability to manage projects on time and within budget. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Knowledge of contract law. Strategic thinking by analyzing market, competition, threats and opportunities; adapts strategy to changing conditions. Works with integrity and strong ethics. Ability to use ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred) and intermediate to advance Excel skills.
