Customs Compliance Specialist

Our client, an industry leader, is seeking a Customs Compliance Specialist to be responsible for company import and export planning and execution. The duties in this role will involve product/part classifications, transaction valuations, and recordkeeping. The position will interface with purchasing, logistics, engineering, and accounting departments as well as outside suppliers, associates, and callers including domestic and international. This position will administer NAFTA program and Certificates of Origin and will be responsible for timely and accurate communications throughout the organization related to customs compliance.

 

Duties for the position include, but are not limited to:

 ?  Classify products using reasonable care practices

?  Determine Transaction Values for all supplier shipments.

?  Maintain bookkeeping records as prescribed by US Customs.

?  Establish and monitor procedures for international shipment.

?  Communicate with and direct brokers and forwarders.

?  Create proformas and secure freight quotes.

?  Train others in customs compliance.

?  Create max loads as needed for freight cost projections.

?  Review and maintain accuracy of tariff classification of products.

?  Create and maintain import /export logs.

?  Administer customer requirements for purchased finished goods.

?  Prepare and send export documents.

?  Maintain harmonized tariff numbers

?  Maintain tariff codes for all finished goods

?  Manage the creation and maintenance of Certificate of Origin files for all suppliers, both NAFTA and Non-NAFTA

 

 

To be considered for the opportunity you must have a Bachelor?s degree in Business or related field, Also, previous experience with NAFTA rules and regulations, experience with custom compliance, the ability to effectively develop work systems to manage workload and to work independently and efficiently, strong research, quantitative, and analytical skills and possess Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with internal/external customers.  You must have the ability to be a team player to succeed in this role.
