Director, Strategic Sourcing Commercial/Marketing

Responsibilities:
The candidate will ensure a detailed understanding of the stakeholders? business goals for Commercial Operations. He/she will define and analyze both the business needs for materials/services and the appropriate supply market situation and opportunities. The candidate will direct a team of professional strategic sourcing managers and specialists responsible for commercial category portfolios covering approximately $400 million expenditure per annum. He/she will work closely with commercial stakeholders to lead cross-functional teams that deliver recognized value from the key spend areas. The candidate will generate, evaluate and implement innovative sourcing options, as well as build sourcing strategies to maximize value and manage supply risk as to ensure that internal stakeholder and business requirements are always met. The candidate will ensure third party supplier alignment, capacity and preferential support for existing and future Genentech requirements. He/she will act as a member of the Procurement Leadership Team (PLT) with shared responsibility for the management of Global Procurement. The Director will work collaboratively with the Global Procurement Services team (GPS) to ensure the alignment of transactions to the agreed sourcing strategies and to implement process efficiencies for commercial spend categories. He/she will maximize opportunities to leverage spend and strategic thinking through Roche collaborations as part of the Corporate Procurement Council (CPC). The candidate will utilize the Procurement Strategy Council (PSC), the Institute of Supply Management (ISM) and other external organizations to identify and implement best practices. He/she will ensure that sourcing activity for the teams spend portfolio complies with the Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.

Requirements:
A Bachelor?s in Business or other related field is required. The candidate must be CPM or MCIPS qualified. He/she must utilize strategic procurement thinking, as well as possess strong relationship building skills. The candidate must be commercially aware with experience in multiple business sectors. Excellent communication and influencing skills are required. He/she must be highly motivated, results-focused and act with a high sense of urgency. The candidate must possess numeric proficiency, with strong analytical skills and creative problem solving capabilities. He/she must be a recognized leader in the procurement field, with extensive personal experience in Commercial Marketing Procurement. The ability to collaborate with product teams in preparing and executing sales/marketing strategy and activities is essential. He/she will support commercial vision and strategy for all brands. The candidate must have knowledge of the business, markets and industry of Marketing Operations, including in-depth technical and commercial knowledge of the products and following categories: advertising development, media placement, ad agency, medical education, print and promotion, market research and consulting. He/she must be highly effective at initiating and leading cross-functional teams, building cross-functional relationships and developing cross-functional understanding. Experience in establishing and building successful supplier relationships is essential. The candidate must have the ability to plan and lead negotiations and have experience in structuring and managing supplier contracts. Experience in controlling significant indirect spend is a must. He/she must have the ability to accept accountability. The ability to interpret and utilize key financial data is imperative. He/she will be required to utilize resourcefulness and versatility in responding to change. The ability to champion the procurement process in cross-functional teams within commercial stakeholders and outside the Genentech organization is essential. The candidate must possess the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, suppliers, affiliates and professional organizations. The ability to create a rewarding work environment and build organizational bench strength is a must. He/she must have the ability to recruit, manage and develop accountable leaders for the future.
