Position Title:   Electronics Buyer (Procurement 3-I)

Job Summary: 

 Purchases materials, equipment, supplies, services and commodity products. Evaluates bids, and selects and recommends suppliers. Negotiates price, delivery, quality and service. Follows up on all awards through completion of order. Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations and engineering changes. Evaluates suppliers and rates them as to production capability, performance and delivery. Performs financial analyses for purchasing. Forecasts requirements, issues periodic reports on trends, and negotiates pricing, discounts and contracts. 

Employee applies and contributes to the development of new concepts and techniques. Solves complex problems with innovation and ingenuity must use considerable judgment in complex situations. Applies and develops advanced concepts and techniques.  Assignments are often self-initiated. Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.

 

1.  Contact vendors with requests for quotes, delivery information, and cross references.

2.  Serves as liaison between the company and suppliers.

3.  Works with suppliers for improvement opportunities in terms of cost, quality, delivery, and lead time.

4.  Analyze requirements (both system generated and manual) to ensure timely placement of purchase orders for goods/services.  Place purchase orders using MRP system.

5.  Proactively manage (and work with Manufacturing and Quality) to ensure supplier?s are meeting the requirements of the company (delivery, quality rating, etc.).

6.  Negotiate pricing and update costs as necessary.

7.  Provide price and delivery information to Purchasing department.

8.  Expedite existing purchase orders, as necessary.

9.  Resolve pricing and receiving discrepancies with vendors, coordinate with Accounts Payable Department.

10.  Maintain positive vendor relationships.

11.  Discuss defective or unacceptable goods with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action

12.  Perform all other duties as assigned or required.

13.  Must have analytical, problem solving, team building, strategic planning and change management skills

 

Qualifications: 

?  BS Degree and 6+ years of procurement experience.  MS Degree and 4+ years of  procurement experience.

 

Experience: 

?  Purchasing experience preferably in electronics industry.

?  Excellent communication and negotiation skills

?  Excellent interpersonal skills

?  Extremely organized and detailed oriented with excellent follow-up

?  MRP and Supply Chain knowledge

?  Proficient in PC applications to include: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access

?  CPM certification desired
