DEWEY HOMES, the fastest growing Builder/Developer in Chester County, and Builder of the Philadelphia Extreme Makeover Home Edition in March 2006, is seeking an Estimator for our Purchasing Department in our Corporate Office.

 

Position Summary: Assist in negotiating, evaluating and approving contract and purchase documents.  Accurately tracks and sets-up items in purchasing and estimating databases.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

?  Develop accurate Performas, and estimates for home construction in an expedient manner, utilizing at a minimum, comparative and differential estimating techniques.

?  Maintain all applicable databases used in developing cost quantity and unit price estimates.

?  Prepare lot analysis reports for all current and future communities.

?  Perform quantity take-offs and estimate selected trades from plans, including options and be accountable to monitor the accuracy of cost estimates, take offs and bid packages.

?  Monitor budgets for all construction phases.

?  Research and implement cost-saving techniques, materials and procedures.

?  Monitor and communicate any hard-cost changes due to cost increases and quantity changes to Director of Purchasing.

?  Issue thorough, accurate purchase orders and work orders within allotted time frames.

?  Maintain relationships with quality, reliable trade contractors, vendors and suppliers during bid process and troubleshoot problems with them as required.

?  Maintain stock of current blueprints for construction, bidding, Trade Partners.

?  Use technical skills of blueprint reading ensuring accuracy .

 

Qualifications:

 

?  College education preferred with a minimum of 5 years construction as well as estimating experience.

?  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

?  Ability to work on multiple projects and prioritize workload.

?  Possess a comprehensive knowledge of, and the ability to, read and understand all house plans, engineering and specification reports.

?  Ability to perform the essential functions of the job in accordance with corporate requirements and professional business practices.

?  Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
