Position Description:

Positions are in ChevronTexaco?s Information Technology Company?s (ITC) Strategic Sourcing department located in San Ramon, California. IT Strategic Sourcing Category Specialists are responsible for all aspects of global IT procurement including negotiation, contracting, sourcing, supplier management and integration, and supply chain optimization with an emphasis on Hardware, Software, and Professional and Consulting Services. The Category Management team has responsibility for an annual spend of about $500MM and a related annual savings objective of at least $25MM

We currently have two IT HW/SW Category Specialist openings. Category Specialists cover the needs of a wide variety of customers throughout Chevron global enterprise. Each Category Specialist ensures their category, and sub-categories, have an effective delivery strategy that aligns their efforts with corporate and operating company goals. The role fulfills team objectives while identifying new team initiatives in parallel with providing counsel, guidance and training in cross functional teams and peer groups, in all areas of IT negotiations, sourcing, contracting, and total cost of ownership management. Growth opportunities exist in other IT categories and in strategic sourcing for other OpCos, and in Chevron?s Corporate Procurement Organization.


Qualifications:

1. Develop and execute standardized strategic sourcing and measured value processes and strategies for assigned sub-categories, accountable for value add, cost savings, and other performance metrics.
2. Ensure alignment with CVX Procurement strategies and processes.
3. Identify and capture new enterprise spend where Strategic Sourcing can add value and drive cost savings via the strategic sourcing and measured value process. Lead cross-enterprise commodity teams for sub-categories, and aggressively track and improve non-compliance with preferred supplier(s).
4. Prepare and lead fact-based negotiations, and execute contracts utilizing approved terms and conditions.
5. Subject Matter Expert (SME) for sub-categories. Incorporates external trade association, market information and trend analysis to act as expert on sub-categories and ensure alignment with internal business directions and external market directions and conditions.
6. Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal customers.
7. Build and maintain strong working relationships with key preferred suppliers, and monitor and continually improve suppliers? performance.
8. Manage and evolve supplier governance processes and, where appropriate, lead supplier alliance improvement teams and networks.
9. Develop category business plans and ensure alignment with ITC Product Management and CVX customer strategies.
10. Lead sourcing and purchasing activities for new IT HW, SW, and Services; ensure sourcing process compliance, engage and leverage appropriate SMEs.
11. Manage and improve supplier(s) performance through the development of new and modification of existing metrics.
12. Participate in architecture review and help ensure global standards compliance.
13. Direct responsibility for first-cost and TCO savings objectives.
