Utility Shared Services, an Energy East Company, is looking for an Analyst ? Strategic Sourcing for its Rochester, New York location.

 

Description:
Selects suppliers and manages corresponding partnerships for all Energy East operating companies via the Procurement Services group. Drive cost reduction initiatives, customer service levels, and quality requirements across the enterprise.  Perform other duties assigned by management.

 

Major Roles and Responsibilities:

 

1. Strategically sources commodities and services, using a variety of traditional and leading edge methods, to assure an uninterrupted supply of goods and services across all Energy East companies. Evaluates and selects suppliers based on their ability to maintain optimum customer service levels at costs in line with annual budgetary expectations.

 

2. Leads cross-functional enterprise teams to drive procurement initiatives and improve bottom line performance. Centralizes the procurement function for all operating companies and solicits assistance from subject matter experts where required.  Prevents and contains contract leakage to maximize strategic procurement results. Solicits employee participation in the strategic sourcing process from OpCo units.

 

3. Maintains current and accurate understanding of a broad base of commodities and general business conditions. Tracks material/service costs, and supplier performance using approved metrics.  Analyzes trends and makes corresponding decisions that contribute directly to the company?s competitive position.

 

4. Negotiates and awards multi faceted, large and complex, business wide enterprise contracts to minimize operational, legal and financial risks. Formulates requests for proposal/quotations, bid analysis, and risk evaluations. Directs supplier negotiations and administers agreements.

 

5. Mentors and trains junior members of the supply chain organization. Drives creative solutions and communicate/suggest best practices to management and colleagues.

 

Skills/Abilities:

 Proficiency in PC software applications, including Access and Excel.Strong informal leadership skills and ability to mentor team members.Strong commercial focus (i.e.  Contract writing, negotiation) and customer service orientation.Proven project management and work planning skillsStrong oral and written communications skills.Strong Customer Service orientationAble to work in Rochester, NY.

 

 

 

 

Experience/Training:

? 7-10 years of strategic sourcing experience with a demonstrated knowledge of corporate wide business processes and operations.

? Knowledge required: Utility operations, procurement, materials management, MRP, forecasting and financial analysis.

? Knowledge of SAP or other ERP/Purchasing system.

 

Certifications:C.P.M. or working toward achievement preferred.

 

Required Education:  Associate's degree required.  Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
