Manager, Purchasing

General Purpose:

Management of purchasing, sourcing, and supply continuity of assigned materials on a corporate level for all Leiner facilities.  To provide quality products at maximum cost effectiveness with on-time delivery.  Ensure that corporate goals are met with regard to the assigned material purchasing.  Provide training and guidance to Buyer and Purchasing Assistant in ordering and expediting of the assigned materials.

 

Position Responsibilities:

* Manage corporate assigned materials programs.  Negotiate prices and supply agreements for assigned materials on a corporate level.

* Identify and resolve problems relating to the assigned material area.

* Closely monitor all Leiner facilities to ensure cost effectiveness and timely deliveries from nationwide suppliers.  Develop positive vendor relationships and authorize vendor invoice payments and payment withholding.  Evaluate vendor performance from a corporate standpoint regarding delivery, cost and quality.

* Interface closely with Marketing, R&D, and Quality to ensure that new projects are developed for most cost effective production.

* Identify potential new vendors for all facilities and develop them to meet corporate quality and delivery standards.

* Work closely with QC/QA personnel to identify and resolve quality problems with suppliers.

 

Minimum qualifications:

* B.S./B.A. Business Degree preferred.  Science emphasis a plus.

* Minimum five years purchasing experience in related industry.  Two years supervisory.

* Strong negotiation abilities.  Good communication skills.  Ability to interface effectively with vendors, peers and management.  Knowledge of computerized purchasing system.
