ViaCell, Inc. is a biotechnology company dedicated to enabling the widespread application of human cells as medicine.  The company is developing a pipeline of proprietary product candidates in tended to address cancer, cardiac disease and diabetes by developing cord blood stem cell product candidates in therapeutically useful quantities.  Viacord is our proprietary product for the preservation of umbilical cord blood with it Reproductive Health Business unit.

 Reports to: Manager, Purchasing and Materials Management

 

Responsibilities: Purchasing:  Processes purchase requisitions daily, including buying and negotiating  components and services for all ViaCell facilities.Process Change Orders as neededInteract with vendor outside sales peopleWatch Purchasing e-mail In Box for order acknowledgements ? print and fileInsures material arrives according to Company schedules and timelines.Prepare documents for scanning on a weekly basisPrepare and distribute e-mails and faxes as required for the purpose of Purchasing goods and services.Negotiates vendor terms and contracts.  Provides input and reviews Departmental SOPsItem/Vendor sourcing for GMP and Lab materials and equipmentInventory (GMP and General Stock)Responsible for the replenishment of point of use inventory.  Examples:  for Cryo lab, Kit assembly and R&D labs.Assists Manger, Purchasing and Materials Management in the maintenance of an FDA approved inventory-tracking system.Responsible for inventory accuracy for Clinical Trial raw materials and collection kit componentsProcesses associated documentation for all activities for GMP environment, Lab and Office Supplies.Facilitates the development of Material Specifications for GMP raw material with Production and QS teams.Calculates and reports monthly inventory values for collection kits. Receiving and ShippingSign for deliveries, receive and distribute materialPost receipts into PeopleSoftInteract and receive material from delivery personnelAssist outside delivery personnel in unloading trucks Package and prepare appropriate paperwork for local and overseas shipmentsPrepare documents for scanning on a weekly basis

 

 FacilitiesParticipate in the planning and physical relocation of various ViaCell move projects. Perform temperature monitoring on a daily basis

 GeneralInput contacts in OutlookMaintain Material Safety Data bindersRegularly interacts with QS, Production, Lab, Program Management, Accounts Payable, Marketing and Sales as it relates to either Company goals and/or Company policies interpretation.Trains employees on the use of People Soft System if required.Participates in meetings as a team member for a variety of critical Company events such as Clinical Trial preparation, Sarbanes Oxley etc.Perform other tasks as directed.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to lift 35 pounds
