Gaco Western is a 51 year old manufacture of Polyurethane Foam and coating systems used for insulation and waterproofing of roofs, walking and driving surfaces.  Our products and customer service are the best in the industry.  We have two manufacturing locations and warehousing throughout the U.S.  Gaco Western has grown  80% in two years and expects to double again by 2010.  Because of our expected growth the Materials Manager will be a key leadership position that will report directly to the Vice President in Sussex, Wisconsin. Key responsibilities include:

 

? Negotiates for best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements

? Establishes purchasing policies and ensures compliance

? Develops new supply sources where vendors are inadequate

? Oversees sourcing and procurement of all materials to ensure optimum price, specifications, delivery and quality

? Provides support to production scheduling on all material flow issues to meet production schedules and customer requirements. 

? Ensures materials are on hand to meet customer demands in a profitable manner

? Interfaces with production managers on the planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet shipments

? Responsible for inventory control management including cycle counts, stock planning and inventory reconciliation.

? Researches inventory variances in a timely, accurate and thorough manner and implements route cause/corrective action measures

? Evaluates obsolete and excess raw materials on a regular basis

? Drives implementation of Standard Operating Procedures for returns: what to return, where it is to be returned, and how to disposition product once it arrives

? Negotiates economical incoming motor and air freight costs according to market conditions

? Manages all finished goods warehousing

? Travel to various Gaco facilities will be required

 

Requirements:

 

? Innovative thinking

? Bachelors degree with 3-5 years of experience in inventory/materials and/or operations management within a manufacturing environment

? Experience working in distribution and warehousing

? Experience in contract negotiation

? Experience working with major freight companies

? In depth understanding of current inventory management practices including bar-coding, cycle counting and FIFO.

? APICS certification desired

? Good computer skills
