OSM Manager

Job Responsibilities :

* Identify in conjunction with marketing and engineering management, promising areas of research or technology that address unmet needs and have large potential markets.
* Communicate to senior management and board of director's overview of all products under development, and their stage of development.
* Plan and formulate aspects of research and development proposals such as objective or purpose of project, applications that can be utilized from findings, costs of project, and equipment and human resource requirements.
* Review and analyze proposals submitted to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures.
* Approve and submit proposals considered feasible to management for consideration and allocation of funds, or allocates funds from department budget.
* Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring projects, such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences, in order to inform management of current status of each project.
* Negotiate collaboration with academia, government, and corporations.
* Negotiate contracts with consulting firms to perform research studies.
* Track industry trends, relevant legislation, and competitor activities.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university required; Master's degree (M.A./M.S.), preferred
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
* Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
* The computer skills required for this job include: Design software, Project Management software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
