Typical duties/responsibilities for the Planning Analyst may include, but are not limited to, the following: Planning includes the co-ordination of engineering, production and associated groups regarding methods, equipment and other resources necessary to supply specific parts and instruments. It also consists of developing, in concert with associated groups, related plans and schedules to meet customer and business requirements.Under general direction, perform supply management and transportation duties typically involving moderate financial commitments or technical complexities. Manage purchases from feeder factories, including placement of orders, disposition of non-conforming material, and monitoring delivery and quality performance.Work closely with other groups involved in various aspects of supply management and transportation to ensure meeting schedules. Strive for continuous improvement in such matters as cost, quality and responsiveness to customers. Effectively negotiate with sales and manufacturing to determine product lead times, while considering such factors as capacity, inventory level, and market requirements. Provide and request information from suppliers, vendors, transportation specialists and other sources, as applicable. Review data and information, conduct analyses and participate in related negotiations. Conduct, as applicable, evaluations of suppliers, vendors and transportation providers relative to product quality, timeliness, and ability to comply with various company requirements. Recommend alternative sources and solutions to minimize problems, as appropriate.



COMPLEXITY OF TASKS:
Requires understanding of supply management and transportation matters and of related policies. Requires ability to respond effectively to unforeseen developments and initiate actions to reduce adverse impact. Interfacing with other groups regarding various aspects of the planning and procurement process requires ability to communicate effectively.


TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in business, mechanical / industrial engineering or related field plus up to 5 years of experience. Alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments. The successful candidate must possess a strong understanding of the planning practices including the use of manufacturing software, and the knowledge of MS Office (especially MS Excel). The successful candidate must have the flexibility to managing multiple priorities, and be adept at making decisions and executing action plans. APICS certification is a plus, but is not required.
