Private Label Senior Buyer

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

?Identify and review potential producers.

?Manage and expand Private Label (PL) international purchasing and commodity buys

?Prepare financial strategy briefs for all new products to include category and item performance analyses.

?Oversee product development process (taste profile, packaging, etc.)

?Negotiate costing on private label items.

?Lead and develop assistant buyer and/or purchasing assistant

?Work with private label team to finalize new item specifications.

?Work with private label team on package design strategy.

?Review, approve and ensure communication on all price changes.

?Monitor sales performance and prepare sales forecasts.

?Work with vendors and PL Team to address product, packaging and pricing needs relative to product life cycle management.

?Work with national purchasing team on category reviews and product development priorities.

?Gather information and prepare spec sheets.

?Work closely with vendors to monitor and ensure high service levels and product quality.

?Coordinate communications/resolve questions with regional and PL replenishment buyers and national buyers.

?Track/manage currency exchange situations.

?Input, manage and monitor annual revenue targets relative to Private Label P&L.

?Work with PL team on item planning, vendor information, etc.

?Travel includes facility visits, tradeshows, warehouse visits, etc.

 

Must Have/Be:

?4 year college degree or equivalent experience.

?Minimum 8 years buying experience in food/grocery, including private label procurement.

?Proven track record of successful negotiation.

?In depth understanding of retail and category management principles.

?History of increasing responsibility in purchasing.

?Excellent analytical skills.

?Knowledge of/experience with natural and organic foods

?Successful experience in team management structure.

?Ability to work independently.

?Experience in currency management and international purchasing.

?Prior leadership experience.

?Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, and database management)

?Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

?Supervisory experience a plus.

?Travel required.
