Procurement Specialist/Buyer

Position Purpose: 

The primary purpose of this position is to buy and replenish quality goods and maintain optimum levels of inventory to balance corporate investment. The Procurement Specialist will report directly to the Director of Procurement and under his or her guidance will strive to meet or exceed the company?s Fill Rate, Turns and Asset Based Objectives.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain appropriate inventory levels to meet customer requirements that are balanced with inventory turn requirements by leveraging edit reports, inventory review meetings and development of ad hoc reports to assist category management as required.  Perform the adequate return or disposal of dead stock, special or custom items.  Manage the overstock/excess on all assigned lines. Assist category liaison with administration of SKU rationalization-reduction. Maintain the highest level of integrity when conducting business with suppliers as well as verify cost on special order items prior to placing the purchase order with supplier, maintaining accurate and timely cost updates on all assigned suppliers.  . Set up all new items with necessary information. Serve as an integral  part of a cross-functional team  by following-up on supplier service issues,  backorders, returns, tracing and expediting in a timely manner.  Assist warehouse in receiving issues for resolution.  Develop strong working relationships with category team(s).  Assist Accounts Payables with incoming vendor invoices where discrepancies are present and need adjustments.  Coordinate sample programs with category liaisons (vendor adjustments).   Job Specifications:1-3 years of specific product line knowledge including (market, commercial distribution, suppliers) Negotiations, vendor management, with existing relationships in the specific product line a plus.Proficient in Microsoft applications especially excel with the ability to leverage data basesSuperior verbal communication skills, proficient in written communication, College degree preferred.
