Product Sourcing Manager - Purchasing, Inventory & Distribution - Educational Materials

Product Sourcing Manager ? Educational Materials LOMA, an international association for the insurance and financial services industry, helps its 1200 member companies increase the value of their human capital. We are looking for a professional to manage all aspects of purchasing, distributing, and maintaining the inventory of our educational publications. The Product Sourcing Manager position in LOMA?s Education and Training Division is responsible for a variety of purchasing, logistical and supply management duties critical to maintaining educational products, LOMA?s primary product line. The ideal candidate combines print purchasing expertise with experience in forecasting and controlling inventory and managing the distribution of products to corporate and individual customers worldwide.RESPONSIBILITIES

? Manages product inventory levels to assure an adequate inventory of study materials for educational programs. Analyzes a variety of complex factors to forecast sales and determine print order quantities for new publications and reprints so as to maximize cost savings and minimize the financial risk of remainders

? Serves as principal liaison between LOMA and its distributors/fulfillment vendors, specifying contract terms, overseeing services, communicating LOMA product information, and resolving issues with respect to services the distributors provide

? Manages the purchasing of educational and marketing materials in a variety of formats and languages?printed, electronic, and various packaging components?assuring on-time delivery, high quality, and low cost; negotiates with commercial college textbook publishers to obtain the best pricing on bulk text purchases and custom textbook publishing arrangements

? Serves as the LOMA resource on printing and packaging technology, shipping methods, international customs regulations, distribution and fulfillment. Researches and recommends methods for improving LOMA product design, development, and delivery and undertakes special projects related to these areas

? Recommends prices and price increases for all educational publications and assures that LOMA accounting records and distributor records accurately reflect inventory, sales, and product costs. Provides reports, forecasts, and other types of information to senior management for determining the financial feasibility of proposed products and programs

? Develops the study materials budget, and oversees maintenance of a volume of reports and spreadsheets that detail historic and forecasted data

? Hires, trains, develops, motivates, evaluates the performance of, and determines the salaries and promotability of assigned staff

? Obtains LOMA?s professional designation, Associate, Customer Service (ACS), within two years of appointment to the positionThe successful candidate will have the following experience and skills:Bachelor degree strongly preferred with educational credentials and/or a strong background in the field of supply management and a minimum of three years of professional business experience. Must have a working knowledge of printing and the prepress process.Experience in international supply management, including offshore printing, with knowledge of international distribution and customs/brokerage strongly preferred.Experience in an educational and/or financial services/insurance environment a plus. Must have a strong grasp of accounting principles. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite with excellent skills in developing and maintaining complex Excel spreadsheets.Strong negotiation skills.Strong project management, analysis and problem solving skills. Experience working as part of a team in a professional, high-performance

  environment. Equally important is the ability to work as a team player with

  internal and external clients.Demonstrated leadership skills. Interpersonal skills appropriate for directing, developing and counseling staff as well as for communicating with customers and management.
