Purchasing Agent / Buyer / Negotiator

Hocking International Labs has been in business for 30 years. We?re currently located in National City, but will be relocating to a brand new facility in the North County area within 12 months. Our Purchasing Agent will perform all planning and acquisition functions with regards to office supplies and raw materials in order to support manufacturing requirements. Our Purchasing Agent?s primary goal is to buy our goods or services at the best available cost which is also consistent with quality and schedule requirements. Must have strong planning and negotiation skills. This is a schedule driven company with various deadlines and quick turnaround times. The candidate needs to be fully able to maintain shipment driven schedules, have the ability to work without supervision and report weekly to the management team. Must have excellent computer skills (MS Office, Excel and QuickBooks preferred).



 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:Must be able to perform high-level purchasing functions. Plan and schedule delivery of raw materials to support manufacturing schedule. Identify and monitor raw material costs. Maintenance of inventory levels to reduce costs. Must be able to work in a very demanding, vast paste environment. Identification and disposition of excess and obsolete raw materials. Negotiation of contracts. Review and update costs quarterly. Develop supplier relationships. Monitor supplier performance. Must have excellent communication skills. Must work well within a team environment. Must be creative in finding sources for new supplies.
