Keefe Group, national distributor of food and personal care items to the correctional industry, seeks talented Purchasing Agent to join our team. Responsibilities:

1. Create and maintain strong vendor relationships.

2. Analyze vendors to minimize product costs and source back up vendors, as well as source new products.

3. Effective communication with staff for packaging changes, new or discontinued items and other product information.

4. Negotiate item selection, pricing, and payment terms with vendors.

5. Responsible for placing and tracking new product orders.

6. Keep complete and current vendor files.

7. Negotiate rebate and sample programs with vendors.

8. Complete multiple projects in a timely manner.

9. Evaluate market trends and upgrade knowledge of commodities, new product opportunities and Keefe?s position in the market place.

10. Bid research and special bid pricing.

11. Maintain knowledge of all product lines.

12. Complete miscellaneous projects assigned by Assistant Vice President-Purchasing

 

Qualifications:

1. Minimum 3+ years Purchasing experience required.

2. Commodities experience a plus.

3. College degree preferred.

4. Quality negotiating skills.

5. Ability to be a self starter.

6. Ability to work with minimal supervision.

7. Ability to prioritize assignments.

8. Strong problem resolution and trouble shooting skills.

9. Must be thorough and detail oriented.

10.Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

11.Good interpersonal skills.

12.Strong mathematical skills
