Purchasing Agent (MRO)

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

 

Menu Foods, publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange, produces over one billion containers of wet pet food annually.  Four manufacturing facilities produce wet pet food for private label and co-pack customers supplying 18 of the top 20 retailers in North America and 5 of the 6 leading National brands.  This position will serve the Pennsauken, New Jersey facility located less than 5 miles from both the Betsy Ross and Tacony-Palmyra bridges.

 

Requirements: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Successful negotiating skills.Attention to detail, ability to organize and follow-through to ensure task completion.Knowledge of maintenance parts and machinery helpful.Computer skills required: proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel ? Outlook, JD Edwards helpful.

 

Duties: Purchasing (Approximately 70% for Maintenance shop; extensive interface with maintenance manager and mechanics and approximately 30% is factory supplies, lab supplies and some production supplies). Competitive Bids - Talk with suppliers in person and over the phone to source items for best priceInteract with Purchasing Agents at other three Menu Foods' manufacturing facilities.Create Excel spreadsheet reports for Managers; receiving reports for maintenance shop.Prepare Purchase Orders for General Manager?s approval and Accounts Payable processing. Ensure timely reconciliation of purchases orders and invoicing. Resolve billing discrepancies with Accounts Payable Department.Oversee forklift concerns, including repairs and preventative maintenance. Conduct demo testing of forklifts and negotiate forklift lease at end of lease term; Provide monthly spreadsheet of Forklift drivers to safety Manager.Check inventories on factory supplies and order as required.Oversee uniform issues on a weekly basis including any decreases or add-ons of employees. Insure all invoices are signed and turned in to Accounts payable.

 

Environment: Majority of work is conducted within high speed, high volume manufacturing factory; with exposure to high noise levels and strong odors; requirement of use of personal protective equipment such as eye & hearing protection and steel-toed shoes; uniforms are provided.

Rate: To be determined based upon qualifications

 

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30 AM ? 5:00 PM ; occasional Saturday hours (hours will vary according to business need)
