Purchasing/Buyer

A Lafayette, LA Manufacturer currently has an opening for a Buyer. As the Buyer, under the guidance of the Materials Manager, you will plan, obtain quotes and procure materials in support of manufacturing and site requirements; locate, survey, and select suppliers of materials and services for the company; monitor and maintain inventory levels consistent with site inventory requirements and goals; seek to improve quality, lower cost and leverage demand. Candidate must possess a solid understanding of ERP and MRP systems functionality and application in materials planning and sourcing; responsible for understanding developments and changes at suppliers that may affect the commodities purchased.

Bachelor?s Degree in business or related field is preferred plus a minimum of 3-5 years purchasing experience as a direct buyer. Working knowledge of MRP and ERP principles and materials management is a must. APICS and/or ISM certification preferred. A combination of job related experience, ongoing educational progress, and related certification may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree.
