Purchasing Manager - Corrugated & Packaging Supply

Frontier Paper & Packaging is an established leader in the packaging field with more than a decade of experience in providing our customers with a full-range of packaging solutions. From our centrally located Indianapolis distribution facility we serve the Midwest market and provide exceptional service through our fleet of company owned trucks. Our steady growth has created a new position for a purchasing manager. This individual needs to have the talent & experience to lead our purchasing team forward, consistent with company goals and objectives. You must have excellent communication skills, and strong analytical abilities. Candidate will be responsible for leading & managing staff of our two junior buyers, while providing guidance and oversight to all purchasing activities. This position requires a strong technical knowledge of corrugated packaging, corrugating equipment, and plant processes, in addition, 5 years progressive commodity purchases such as plastic films, foams, tapes and other industrial supplies.



Job responsibilities include:

* Continuously evaluate & identify potential vendors for primary and alternative sources of supply. Monitor and manage vendor performance, based on quality, cost competitiveness, support in market and adherence to delivery times.

* Understand market trends, manufacturing processes and factors affecting pricing to and availability.

* Pro actively consult with sales staff to determine customers needs, expectations and requirements.

* Ability to multi-task and handle several key projects within deadlines at once.

* Perform benchmarking studies to create best of best supply base.

* Maintain item maintenance, oversee and monitor integrity of system.

* Responsible for updating price increases/decreases in system with all necessary reporting.

* Evaluate and track categories relevant to spend dollars, establish & prepare budgets as well as other assignments requested by management.



Education requirements:

* College degree in business, purchasing or related area.

* 5-7 years actively purchasing industrial products, CPM or CPP certification a plus.

* Proficient using Excel, Word & Outlook Express.
