Purchasing/Material Logistics Manager

Responsibilities:
Responsibile for inbound material logistics processes (planning,raw material procurement, receiving, inspection, reverse logistics, stocking, obsolescence management, freight carrier management and distribution) which support the RIMR manufacturing operation, as well as outbound finished goods shipments to Respironics distribution sights and customers.
This position will have primary accountability for the leadership of the Quality Notification processes used to manage nonconforming material within the RIMR plant.
Ensure material velocity, continuity of supply, process efficiency, process effectiveness, and process quality within the processes described above.
Manufactured products from this operation support over $600M in annual sales volume. Leading the Material Logistics Self Managed Work Team (SMWT) includes responsibility for as many as 60 direct and indirect support associates. Direct reports will include Warehouse Team Leader, Raw Materials Planning and Supply Supervisor and two Logistics Process Analysts.
Develop and continuously improve the material logistics management processes/tools to accomplish world class continuity of supply of raw materials to our internal and external customers.
Ensure that the Material Logistics processes are properly staffed and that all associates are trained for their positions.
Build an effective and efficient partnership with the support organizations vital to the success of the SMWT goals.
Execute frequent evaluation of and response to required versus available human, equipment and space capacities.
Ensure adequate information management between the Logistics SMWT and the respective business segment SMWT leaders.
Mentor and develop the Material Logistics associates to achieve increasing levels of accomplishment.
Lead and guide this SMWT with a focus on quality, efficiency, planning, sense of urgency, and transition project management.

Requirements:
BS in Engineering or Business related field, required.
MBA with emphasis in manufacturing systems, Logistics and/or business, preferred.
Education in Logistics Management, preferred.
Certification as a Six Sigma practitioner, preferred.
A thorough understanding and working knowledge of continuity of supply processes and tools, required.
A working knowledge of the QSR & ISO 9000 requirements, required. A practical, experienced knowledge of flow/lean/demand-based manufacturing methods and techniques as they relate to both build to order and build to stock processes, required.
Minimum of 7 years of formal leadership experience required.
Direct experience in manufacturing engineering, manufacturing management and/or material logistics management, required.
Experience with direct supervision including evaluation and hiring of new associates, associate development, performance management and establishing functional goals and objectives, required.
Experience implementing systematic change within a QSR or ISO 9000 quality system, required.
Minimum of 10 years experience in a manufacturing or distribution operation, required.
A thorough understanding of quality system standards (ISO, FDA Quality System Regulation) along with an understanding of core quality improvement methods, required.
