 Purchasing Supervisor

Job Duties:  Supervises the purchasing of direct materials, MRO supplies, equipment and services.  Assures the pricing, quality and delivery of purchased items.  Fulfills material requirements to support production schedules and customer orders in a build to order manufacturing environment.  Supervises 4-5 Buyer/Planners.  Maintains MRP planning and procurement data in MAPICS MRP system.  Supervises attainment of business goals in the areas of purchase part planning, cost reduction, inventory control, schedule attainment, shortages, stockouts, special orders, freight costs and Lean Material Systems.  Supervises both domestic and international supply base with Strategic Sourcing support.  Supervises the integration of company system tools with Lean Manufacturing techniques to leverage positive business results within plant, supplier or subsidiary.  Supervises the material and parts delivery process including setup/design and replenishment of supermarkets.  Supports the establishment of kanban levels and other related pull systems of production and inventory processes.  Leads the negotiation of lead times with suppliers and schedules for timely delivery.  Strengthens the materials and purchasing function by developing policies, procedures, systems, programs and staff and by meeting established objectives.Requirements/Skills: 

? Proven supervisory skills consistent with organizational goals and company policy to think/manage strategically, develop talent, and maximize performance.

? Able to financially manage the function by understanding budgeting, compensation systems, income statements and project justification.

? Able to lead special projects within the division, plant or operations function.

? Must understand the manufacturing process including engineering methods, manufacturing technology, capacity analysis, safety and other support functions.

? Able to effectively administer policies, procedures, laws and regulations to maintain both environmental and labor compliances.

?Must have thorough understanding of Standard Purchasing Policies and Procedures

? Must be market focused to enhance customer satisfaction and product development.

? Must have strong business relationship skills with developed appreciation for meaningful customer-supplier relationships internally and externally.

? Must have Manufacturing Purchasing or Production Planning or Materials management experience in Vecta commodities, such as metal fab, die casting, injection molding, plastic extrusions, aluminum extrusions, corrugated packaging

 Education/Experience

?BA, BS or equivalent experience.

? 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing plant environment

? C.P.M. or CPIM certification preferred
