Purchasing Team Manager

Sterling Educational Media has been a leader in the college textbook industry for over 20 years.  Located in Miami Lakes we pride ourselves on our team culture and our warm and friendly work environment.  We have an immediate opportunity for a purchasing team manager with a sales oriented background to work with the company?s Director of Business Development.  

 

General Responsibilities:Negotiates with suppliers for the purchase of product from various geographic locations.Manages a team of purchasing agents who manage relationships with suppliers from various geographic locations.Develops metrics for the management team that facilitate decision making for acquisition and ordering of inventory.Sales management experience is preferredExemplifies and fosters a team environment

 

 

Detailed ResponsibilitiesNegotiates with vendors for products to be ordered, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee.Manages a team of purchasing agents in numerous cities, including hiring new agents, training agents regarding the industries in which the organization operates, and coaching agents on techniques of negotiation to ensure their success.Develops new supply sources where vendors are inadequate.Works with team to determine and maintain proper levels of inventory to meet customer demand.Participates in maximizing company revenue and profit as a member of the new business development team by recommending terms and agreements with potential supply partners.Prepares detailed management reports that will allow team to determine most profitable outlets for inventory acquisition.

 Establishes Purchasing Policies and ensures compliance.Negotiates accounts / credit terms with suppliers account/credit and terms

 Works closely with inventory / business analyst and operations to ensure supplies have been received, quality inspected, and if needed returned to supplier for credit.

 Responsible for performance management of purchasing agents.

? Proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access



 

Experience

? Minimum 8 to 10 years of purchasing experience, including at least 5 years managing purchasing agents.

? Experience managing people from diverse cultures is preferred

? Bachelor?s Degree in Business related field preferred
