R&D Purchasing Specialist

MGE UPS SYSTEMS, INC. one of the largest global providers of power quality solutions is looking for an experienced, Purchasing Specialist with a strong background in R&D, preferably in a manufacturing environment, to support several development projects within our Procurement Team.

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Responsible for implementing the MGE Purchasing strategy through long term relationships with vendors. Will define, communicate and implement said strategy for their assigned Commodity portfolio. Also, responsible for strategic sourcing and evaluation of suppliers and their capabilities in support of Engineering and R&D, including the best vendor panel to reach the objectives of productivity, performance and quality; complete cost (including transportation, currency, stock, obsolete or scrap); working capital (inventories, payable, incoterm) and sourcing direct and indirect materials and services.

 

EXPERIENCE:  Minimum 6 years of purchasing experience primarily involved with Engineering or R&D. International purchasing experience helpful. Working knowledge of MS Office Programs and ERP systems.

 

SKILLS:  Must be able to multi-task, successfully managing multiple projects, people and situations, demonstrating good interpersonal skills and sound judgment. Must possess highly effective negotiation and communication skills. Ability to manage on time delivery of suppliers, identify and proactively respond to critical business needs, possess business understanding of how to minimize total costs, exhibit flexibility and adaptability, ability to maintain positive and effective relationships with key suppliers. Organized and detail oriented mind set.

 

EDUCATION:  Bachelors? degree in related field required. CPM and/or CPIM certification preferred.
