Raw Material Buyer/Planner

Founded in 1972 and operating in over 50 countries around the world, Alpha Security Products is a leading global supplier of store-applied, store-removed theft deterrent products for high-shrink merchandise.  Alpha solutions work hand-in-hand with Electronic Article Surveillance systems (both AM and RF technology) and have a proven history of measurable, bottom-line success.  Alpha products are used by 46 out of the top 50 retailers in the Untied States and by each of the top three retailers in the office supply, consumer electronics, multimedia, grocery, drug, mass merchant, sporting goods, apparel and do-it-yourself (DIY) retail segments.  By having close relationships with these top retailers and understanding their security objectives, we continue to design and develop products that meet their needs.

 

We accomplish this by having in-house marketing, product management, engineering/design, and mold-build teams.  Alpha manufacturing strategy includes a company owned facility in Canton, Ohio as well as a network of Asian contractors.  Our contractors are managed from the US by our Procurement and Logistics group.  Products are distributed through two sites in the US and one in Western Europe.

 

Alpha is currently searching for a Buyer to contribute to the teams of experts.  In this role, the candidate will work extensively with our China contractors.  This position will have full responsibility for ensuring the suppliers have materials for orders, meet required production quantities and execute the transportation to our distribution sites.  Work closely with our Sales and Customer Service team by keeping them updated on purchase order status and capacity constraints in order to meet our customers deliver requirements.  This position will also work closely with our New Product Development team with product launch and contractor set ups.  This position is located in Canton, Ohio.

 

The successful candidate should possess the following:

 

5-8 years experience in industrial purchasing (actually dealing with vendors, placing orders, negotiating prices, negotiating stocking arrangements, etc.).

  Experience in working with China (preferred)

  Experience with electronic components (preferred)

  AS400 and Excel skills preferred.
