SR. Buyer

Basic Function

Reports to Materials Manager or Purchasing Leader. Negotiates with suppliers for the purchase of materials, equipment or services. Works toward procurement goals to support on time delivery, cost reduction goals, inventory turn improvement and supplier management.  Works with minimal supervision.

 

Key Responsibilities: 4-8 tasks, duties or responsibilities of the job.

? Purchase and re-schedule  product to support MRP and non-inventory requirements

? Qualifies suppliers for financial health and stability, and works with QA to qualify suppliers via the Supplier Evaluation process.

? Secures quotes to obtain most favorable prices and services consistent with quality requirements

? Plans and negotiates long-term contracts with favorable impact on inventory goals, quality, and continuity of supply and corporate cost objectives.

? Negotiates and facilitates the return of rejected and obsolete material

? Reconciles accounts payables discrepancies

? Seeks to implement root cause/corrective actions for late parts deliveries.

? Works on projects, kaizens, DMP events as required

? All other duties as assigned

 

 

Education, Experience, Knowledge, skills, and abilities:  

BS or BA in a related field plus 5 years purchasing experience, including MRP and Kanban/VMI systems.

Computer skills required: Word processing and spreadsheets. Knowledge of Access is a plus.

Blueprint reading

Experiences with import/export regulations are a plus.

RoHS experience a plus.

 Working Conditions: Office Environment

 

Travel Requirements: Less than 4% time traveling required. Must be willing to travel internationally and domestically.
