Position Description:

SENIOR DESIGNER - Reference and Non-Fiction books

We are looking for an enthusiastic talented designer to bring excitement and a fresh eye to our trade reference and nonfiction books. The nonfiction list focuses on topics that have high kid appeal and that help kids learn. The reference list publishes children?s dictionaries and atlases, among others.

Qualifications:

5 years design experience in book design.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work on complicated designs and long document layout.
Strong computer skills in InDesign, Quark, Illustrator and Photoshop.
Excellent project management and organizational skills.
Ability to work well in a collaborative, team and deadline-oriented environment.
Proactive. Motivated. Flexible. Fun.

Other Responsibilities include:
Hiring and managing illustrators and freelance designers.
Working with the editorial team to generate new ideas for design and branding of books and book series.
Regularly liaising with several in-house departments including editorial,production,
manufacturing.
Attending bi-weekly production meetings providing updates on title status.
