About the Opportunity

In this key strategic position, the Strategic Sourcing Director's primary responsibility is leading the overall direction, planning, organizing and execution of all sourcing functions for Curtis 1000.  This includes directing all sourcing operations to meet customer requirements as well as the support and maintenance of existing sourcing applications and development of new technical solutions.  Specific responsibilities include:Develop short-term and long-term sourcing strategies aligned with current and anticipated business needs.Identify and develop select strategic vendor partnerships for materials and sourcing of production work which create a sustainable competitive advantage for Curtis 1000.  This includes negotiating pricing, terms and conditions and providing risk assessment and ROI analysis of procurement decisions as well as implementation of all supply agreements.Design and implement vendor service and packaging requirements that align with company and customer needs to ensure on-time deliveries and reduction in lead times.Lead change as necessary to ensure that internal systems, processes and structures are effective in meeting long-term customer needs and company requirements.Implement best practices in the areas of forecasting logistics and inventory management.Develop, implement and maintain departmental performance measurements.Implement best practices in the areas of forecasting logistics and inventory management.Develop database of vendor abilitiesDevelop integrated and comprehensive estimating system.Ensure the consistency and maintainability of estimating applications by creating, maintaining and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions.Perform liaison duties between users, operators and programming personnel in the area of systems design, modifications and troubleshooting.Establish purchasing policies and ensure compliance.Establish and control the sourcing department budget.Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.

 

Skills Required

To meet the demands of this key position, the Strategic Sourcing Director needs to possess the following skills and experience:Demonstrated leadership ability including experience managing a professional staff.5+ years of professional sourcing/procurement experience implementing effective and innovative methodologies for a mid-sized company.Bachelors Degree preferably in a business related major.Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects.Strong computer skills including proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project and standard industry procurement software and databases.Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.Strong business acumen; ability to understand the business and develop solutions to meet business needs.Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies.Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.Ability to travel on business.
