Sourcing Specialist / Purchasing

Position Summary : Responsible for economical efficient and on time procurement of the necessary inventoriable components essential in the manufacture of instrumentation valve products through Network Procurement sources and additional approved suppliers with control of price, delivery and quality.

 

Scope and Interaction:

Scope: Under general direction of the Plant Purchasing Manager, reviews approves and purchases materials in line with customer and manufacturing demand to insure on time service and desired levels of inventory. Issues purchase orders, schedules receipts, expedites deliveries and follows up on open requirements.

 

Interaction: Interacts routinely with Purchasing and Manufacturing to support all aspects of purchase inventory planning and buying to satisfy customer demand.

 

Essential Functions:

All aspects of Supplier Management for defined Suppliers including monthly forecast to Network Suppliers, establishing trigger points and release quantities, performing monthly adjustments based on actual demand to maximize fill rate and minimize DSI,  requests quotations, negotiates like pricing, initiates purchase orders, follows up on open orders before they go late, expedites past due commitments and spike orders, supplies order due dates to manufacturing, tracks supplier performance levels monthly and travels to suppliers as required to resolve on time delivery problems.

 

Qualifications:

Internally motivated individual, open to change, with a 4 year degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Procurement or Business Administration, 2?5 years experience in purchasing related function, Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and pull replenishment techniques, Strong written and verbal communication skills, Proficient in Microsoft Access, Excel and Word.
