Sr. Buyer, Consumables

Health & Personal Care (HPC) is one of Amazon.com's fastest growing businesses.  The leadership team is focused on delivering a world-class customer experience and exceptional sales and margin growth and we are looking for someone to join our group as Senior Buyer, Food & Snacks.  The person who joins our team must share our passion and commitment.  This person will lead a portion of the consumables business with responsibility for buying, vendor relationships, deal negotiations, and merchandising.  He or she will be responsible for driving the top and bottom line and optimizing all aspects of the category P&L by delivering rapid selection expansion, maintaining price leadership and optimizing category profitability.   The primary role of the Senior Buyer is to play an active, primary role in making Amazon the global leader in online shopping for the consumables categories.

 

This candidate should have experience in forging new consumer package goods business opportunities, planning, forecasting, and a background in food retailing, as well as well-established, long-term industry relationships with consumer package goods manufacturers at the national level.  The right candidate will be flexible, action and results oriented, self-starting and comfortable with computer databases and tools. They must also be decisive and able to move with speed to implement ideas.

The ideal candidate will bring at least three years of hands-on, senior level merchandising experience with established, relevant vendor relationships in the dry grocery at a national level. This candidate should also have experience in managing and driving a full P&L, team-building and management, planning and forecasting and a background in retail or ecommerce.  The Senior Buyer is a passionate customer and category advocate within Amazon.  To that end, he or she must be able to develop clear thinking and business rationale for new features & services and interact with technology development teams to bring customers ease-of-use and innovation.  The Senior Buyer must be an effective communicator in working with some of Amazon.com's most important partners and vendors, as well as with internal colleagues and groups.
