St Louis Buyer

Duties: Negotiation of individual purchases, agreements and contracts for assigned services, materials, equipment, and operating supplies within scope of responsibility. Implementation/monitoring of corporate/site contracts to ensure achievement of enterprise objectives while supporting requirements of the St Louis and surrounding area locations. Responsible for processing purchase orders, managing the change order process, expediting, managing contracts, and ensuring vendor insurance requirements are met. Maintain involvement in capital purchases/projects and manage the bid evaluation process for assigned projects. Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Procurement process for the development and execution of cost reduction opportunities for assigned services and materials, and participation on enterprise sector project teams for consolidation of expenditures with enterprise sources. Ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgment in the selection of suppliers and in negotiating terms for site-specific materials. This position will be located at the Corporate Headquarters but will serve Missouri and Illinois plants as well.

 

Qualifications/Competencies: BS/BA degree in Supply Chain/Purchasing/Logistics, Business Accounting or Technical Fields. Candidate(s) must have a strong strategic focus with a minimum of 3+ years experience in Procurement/Logistics/Engineering with a background in purchasing materials in support of complex manufacturing operations. Working knowledge of procurement systems, purchasing policies/procedures, and purchasing law is required. Strong familiarity with SAP is desired. Must have abilities in negotiation, team building, innovation, and change management. Desired candidate will have demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive complex projects to closure within deadlines. Candidate must exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills, sharp analytical skills, and robust problem solving skills. Professional certifications are a plus.
