Steel Buyer

IPSCO Enterprises Inc. is seeking a motivated individual to assume the duties of Steel Buyer at our Lisle, IL facility.

Reporting to the Vice President of Raw Materials and Procurement, this individual will be responsible for company-wide steel coil purchasing.? He / She will be responsible for monitoring market trends, determining sourcing strategies, negotiating contracts with suppliers, working with scheduling to ensure availability of material for the various plants, and developing the most suitable method of purchase, such as spot, contracts, blanket, or vendor stocking.? The successful candidate will also develop and generate effective communications, good relations, and a positive image with coworkers and suppliers.

Candidates should have a minimum of 5-10 years background in purchasing within the steel industry and have a Bachelors Degree in Business or a related field.? The ideal candidate will have knowledge of metallurgical properties and specifications, be able to evaluate supplier performance, and should have experience negotiating/setting terms with suppliers as well as drafting contracts.? This individual should also have a Professional Purchasing designation and be proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

IPSCO operates steel mills at three locations and pipe mills at six locations in the United States and Canada. As a low cost North American steel producer, IPSCO has a combined annual steel making capacity of 3,500,000 tons. The Company's tubular facilities produce a wide range of tubular products including line pipe, oil and gas well casing and tubing, standard pipe and hollow structurals. Steel can also be further processed at IPSCO's five temper leveling and coil processing facilities.
