DESCRIPTION:

 

Leads strategic sourcing and supplier management activities for multiple categories of spend, with the goal of achieving significant reductions in total cost of ownership (TCO). In addition, strives to deliver year-over-year productivity improvements while maintaining or improving service levels and reliability. Works closely with key stakeholders in business lines, corporate functions and supplier organizations to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans. This position will typically be responsible for $100-200 million in annual spend and will report to the Director of Strategic Sourcing.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Strategic Sourcing Consultant?s primary responsibility is the creation of real value, including price savings, supplier productivity and potential revenue generation, through negotiating TCO contracts with suppliers and driving supplier performance on other TCO cost reduction initiatives.  As the leader responsible for sourcing effectiveness on a particular category, the Strategic Sourcing Consultant has the following specific responsibilities:

? Develop and implement sourcing strategies for key spend categories
? Lead the process to select and manage suppliers
? Drive annual productivity improvements in each spend category
? Measure and track performance within each spend category and define budgetary impact
? Monitor strategy implementation and contract compliance
? Monitor customer satisfaction
? Develop an expertise in the assigned spend categories
? Drive best practices across all TXU?s groups/segments/subsidiaries for assigned sourcing categories
? Provide assistance to TXU?s acquisition strategies by completing the due diligence and integration activities for the spend categories
? Uphold internal and external policies, regulations and laws

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Minimum Requirements
? BA / BS required
? Strong problem-solving and analytical skills ? able to construct/execute multiple complex analyses (e.g TCO, NPV; cost-price analyses) simultaneously
? Successful, multi-year track record in a procurement organization or management position

Prefered Knowledge/Skills
? MBA; other graduate degree potentially acceptable
? Specific commodity experience
? Good planning/project management skills
? Strong negotiating skills
? Quick study ? able to gain a fact based understanding of current supplier base, supplier economics and major trends in relevant markets
? Superior communication skills; strong interpersonal skills
? Passion for reducing costs ? exhibits high energy and the enthusiasm to establish a new approach to sourcing

  COMMENTS:

 

These positions could require travel to TXU and/or supplier facilities of up to 70%, depending on the specific Strategic Sourcing initiative.
