Loan Officer/Small Business Lender

Nature of Position:

Market CHFA lending programs, evaluate projects for eligibility, and coordinates the processes leading toward closing. The position reports to the Manager of Business Finance.

 

Essential Job Functions:

Markets CHFA programs effectively in Western Colorado by initiating a variety of contacts that result in project/program deal flow; develops and initiates training sessions for external customers, evaluates potential projects for eligibility, repayment ability, and program compliance.  Makes presentations to Loan Committee and Board members; follows-up with borrowers and lenders regarding status of loans, and coordinates the information flow for project underwriting and approval within CHFA.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must possess:

? Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principals;

? Knowledge of practices, procedures, and regulations/laws related to governmental economic development programs;

? Ability to analyze financial statements for loan viability;

? Ability to initiate contacts and establish a consistent and effective marketing program;

? Working knowledge of loan closing documentation;

? Ability to present effective and informational presentations to Loan Committee, Board and external customers;

? Ability to effectively learn and utilize the software and spreadsheets associated with underwriting models;

? Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, in a positive, diplomatic and friendly manner;

? Strong customer service skills; and

? Ability to establish rapport with persons of diverse ethnic, racial and cultural backgrounds essential.

 

Education and Experience:

Requires a minimum of three (3) years of work experience as a loan underwriter specializing in commercial lending which included experience public speaking engagements. Bachelor's Degree, preferably in business or economics, or equivalent experience. Bi-lingual, English and Spanish language preferred. Candidates who possess significant marketing experience highly desirable. Must have or be able to obtain Colorado drivers license.
