Controller

The Portfolio Controller will direct and coordinate the property accounting function for a Property Accountant Team consisting of one Accounting Manager and four or more Property Accountants by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

 

Duties Include, but are not limited to:

 

? Monthly Property Accounting and Reports

o  Review quarterly full GAAP financial reporting package

o  Review quarterly TIC reports

o  Monitor properties A/R collection status

o  Oversee the preparation of the monthly calendar with input from Accounting managers, AR, and AP supervisors

o  Verify accountants have updated their properties cash requirements

o  Directs preparation of budgets, reviews over all budget, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification

o  Interface with Asset Managers or Property Managers on budgets or general items/problems

o  Track Tax, Insurance, and Mortgage payments

o  Oversee the set up new properties

o  Oversee the disposition of sold properties

 

? Oversee and manage accounting staff

? May assist in the preparation of 1-2 SEC Filing including Form 10Q, 10K and 8K 

? Work with auditors in their review of the financial statements and SEC filings

? Assist with ad hoc reporting and other special projects, including developing policies and procedures and SOX documentation

? Establishes and maintains relations with banks and other financial institutions.

 

Requirements:

? Minimum of a bachelor?s degree, preferably in accounting or finance   

? MBA is highly desirable

? SEC reporting experience preferred but not required

? Excellent written and verbal communication skills

? Strong sense of urgency

? Must be a team player

? Ability to work under pressure, balance and execute on multiple deliverables

?  Real Estate experience preferred but not required
