The Manager of Land Planning will develop strategy for and manage implementation of all planning and entitlement of property located in Salt Lake City. The Manager of Land Planning is also responsible for managing all major entitlement issues in South Jordan.

The Manager of Land Planning reports to the Vice President of Long Range Planning for Kennecott Land.

Key Accountabilities & Essential Job Functions:

Coordination and implementation of Salt Lake City?s Northwest Quadrant General Plan and major South Jordan entitlementsDevelop and maintain positive relationships with Salt Lake City and South Jordan staff, community councils, planning commissions and county council Coordinate KLC activities related to the development and implementation of Salt Lake City?s Northwest Quadrant General Plan Identify critical entitlement issues and develop strategies to mitigate those issues

Identify and implement proper zoning for the North Urban Center Identify with Salt Lake City the property zoning structure to govern the Northwest Quadrant Process the various levels of the zone in Salt Lake City

Citywide coordinationInterface with other city wide planning efforts such as Downtown Salt Lake master plan, South Jordan open space master plan, etc. Represent Kennecott Land on various Salt Lake City or South Jordan committees and/or organizations as neededCoordinate development plans with utility and service organizations

Identify Organizational needs and internal coordinationCoordinate community development plans with senior management and other departments within the organizationWork with Public Policy on developing stakeholder involvement strategies and communication

Coordinate with MunicipalitiesCoordinate with the adjacent municipalities as appropriate Incorporate the South Jordan and Salt Lake City plans into adjacent municipalities general plans

Additional Responsibilities: Perform Safety Inspections Participate in company committees and groups

Key Requirements: Bachelor?s degree required. Urban planning, masters or law degree preferred. Candidates with strong relevant work experience will be considered as well Minimum of seven years experience in real estate development or related field Excellent presentation, written and verbal communications skills Ability to work on multiple projects and deliver quality outcomes on time. Ability to understand county/city entitlement processes Ability to interpret general plans and zoning ordinances Ability to establish sound and trusting relationships with both internal and external parties at all levels of the organization Ability to understand and operate in a manner consistent with Rio Tinto?s team leadership and team membership model
