Team Leader, Cash Management
Essential Job Function:
The Cash Management Department ensures accurate balancing of payment and payoff transactions. The department balances daily cash receipts for payment transactions for the Payment Processing Department and the Payoff Department, researches and adjusts returned items, monitors non-processed negotiable items and performs custodial duties of batch and microfilm records.
The Cash Management Team Leader manages the balancing of the MRC account, including batch control balancing, to ensure that monetary transactions are resolved in an expeditious, accurate manner. The Team Leader ensures that research for missing and misapplied payments is resolved in an accurate, timely manner. The Team Leader manages the processing of exception issues, including zero coupons, misapplied funds, encoding errors, partial payments and payment hierarchy posting to ensure that the items are processed accurately and in a timely manner. This position also coordinates identification and correction of loans.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate the research and communication necessary to resolve outstanding MRC items. Follow up with bank personnel on outstanding items, accelerating items as necessary.
Perform various other duties as assigned, including projects related to legal actions, class action suits and similar items.
Manage the MRC and batch control balancing process to ensure that monetary transactions are resolved accurately and timely.
Manage the processing of exception issues, including zero coupons, misapplied funds, encoding errors, partial payments and payment hierarchy posting to ensure that the items are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
Determine training needs within the team and conduct the required training in coordination with the department trainer.
Respond to customer inquiries as necessary.
Coordinate the team's workflows, providing guidance as needed to ensure that processes are handled within established time frames, and in accordance with departmental policies. Create and implement detailed procedures to ensure a high quality level is achieved and maintained. Establish objectives for the team to support the overall objectives of the department.
Provide operational updates to senior management.
Recommend staffing levels, promotions and terminations and develop supporting documentation and submit to management for concurrence. Prepare and conduct performance appraisals for team members. Conduct meetings with staff to identify training and development needs. Conduct interviews and make staffing recommendations.
Facilitate communication between team members. Hold staff meetings on a regular basis.
Preferred Skills/Education:
Ability to analyze and solve complex situations.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Must be organized, analytical and extremely detail oriented.
PC proficiency, including Word, Excel, AS/400, Lotus Notes, Power Point.
Must have the ability to perform and coordinate multiple tasks and/or projects simultaneously.
High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor?s degree or equivalent work experience.
Three to five years managerial experience in mortgage banking or related businesses.
