VP Underwriting

We currently have a position as a VP in the Underwriting department.

 

The VP of Underwriting is responsible for the following:

 



?  Evaluate the investment quality of the loan and the risk to Saxon/AML for loans in excess of authority limitations, and make recommendations to Senior Management and the Credit Committee

? Evaluate the investment quality of the loan and the risk to Saxon/AML for loans in excess of the authority limitations up to 750,000.

? Review loans submitted by the underwriting staff for exception to the U/W guidelines and sign-off on loans that exceed the AVP?s loan authority

? Develop performance plans with staff that promote a team concept and encourages the employee to complete assigned duties effectively and to acquire new skills for future growth

? Identifying staffing needs and properly staff the Underwriting Department

? Underwrite loans consistently, accurately and timely in accordance with Saxon/AML underwriting guidelines

? Maintain productivity levels in accordance with departmental standards set forth by underwriting department

? Maintain turn-around deadlines as set forth by the underwriting department

? Ensure daily flow and customer service is to the highest levelTrain, coach and develop underwriting staff

 

 Education Requirements 

 Bachelor?s Degree preferred

 

Experience Requirements:

 5-7 years experience in mortgage underwriting3-5 years management in mortgage industry with 2 years in underwriting management

 

Skills/Knowledge Requirements:

 

? Must be proficient with MS Office

? Strong Attention to detail

? Excellent customer service skills

? Effective oral and written communication skills

? Excellent understanding of the mortgage industry and the documents contained in a mortgage file

? Ability to effectively evaluate consumer credit risk and appraisals

? Ability to manage a heavy workload and meet production deadlines  Ability to structure loans for unique program requirements
