Design Engineer - Surfacing

The Auto Research Center, a leading-edge research and development company, is currently undergoing an expansion phase. To facilitate this we are looking for a highly motivated, creative, flexible person to join our team as a Design Engineer with an emphasis on surfacing.

 

This person will be responsible for translating customer requirements to design specifications, using point cloud and polygon mesh data to create surfaces and solid models using Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, cad modeling of mechanical and freeform components, and providing accurate time estimates for upcoming projects. This position will also support internal company projects as well as customer jobs. This position will require strong organizational skills, and the ability to work closely with the customer to accomplish their goals. The person who will fit this role must be motivated, energetic, able to work on a wide variety of projects, and able to meet weekly deadlines without daily supervision. This person will be responsible to carry out projects from inception to completion.

 

The applicant who is qualified for this position must have experience with mechanical and surface design using Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire v2.0. The ideal candidate will have an engineering degree and be able to prove a successful record of design excellence in a high quality industrial environment. The ideal candidate will also have had some experience working with point cloud CAD data. Experience with Geomagic Studio software and reverse engineering tools such as laser scanners and CMMs would be a definite plus, but is not required. Knowledge of mechanical automotive systems and design characteristics would be helpful, but the ability to work to very high standards, meet changing requirements, and maintain tight deadlines is vital.
