Associate Bakery Coordinator

We are looking for a creative, energetic Pastry/Bakery Specialist to assist the Bakery Team Leaders (Department Managers) and support the overall merchandising of the Bakery Departments.  This position reports to the Bakery Coordinator and will support the 20 stores in the Midwest Region with an additional 4-6 in development. 

Will ensure the implementation and carry out of regional and national Prepared Foods programs including seasonal promotions.  In addition, will help to maintain department profitability, increase department sales, and participate in regional meetings and special projects as assigned.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

1.  Responsible for performance of all Midwest Bakery teams;

2.  Maintain great working relationship with the Bakery Coordinator, including daily communications and weekly updates;

3.  Intensive training in each store on sound retail execution;

4.  Assist in the implementation and full execution of all Regional Programs;

5.  Work with teams to ensure appropriate holiday/seasonal merchandising plans;

6.  Work with Bakery teams to develop and improve consistent merchandising standards and increase productivity;

7.  Focus on building sales and improving regional comps;

8.  Constantly drive and improve margin performance;

9.  Provide constructive criticism and solution-oriented feedback to bakery teams and store leadership;

10.  Maintain food safety standards in all locations;

11.  Actively participate in decision-making and implementation process of the future vision for the bakery;

12.  Consistently use the store visit checklist as a as a written record of store visits and observations;

13.  Travel regularly throughout the Midwest region;

14.  Create, expand and refine FOCUS training programs; and

15.  Assist in design and development of new stores as part of the Development Team.

 

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

1.  5 years management experience, or equivalent

2.  Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills

3.  Passion and love for all food

4.  Overall knowledge of the bakery industry

5.  Scratch baking experience?Artisan bread baking preferred

6.  Excellent organizational and computer skills

7.  Understanding of financials and profitability expectations

8.  Familiarity or understanding of the quality standards that relate to the bakery department and what would constitute a clean product

9.  An eye for detail

10.  Outstanding customer service skills

11.  Willingness to travel frequently (minimum 60% of the time)

12.  Strong leadership and motivational skills

13.  Store opening experience preferred
