Assistant Manager - Waldenbooks

Assistant Sales Managers are responsible for providing leadership and fostering a sense of teamwork and ownership in the store. While assisting the Store Manager with coaching and mentoring the staff, our Assistant Managers support the execution of strategies to maximize store and kiosk profitability and to achieve sales, customer service and operational goals. This hourly wage position requires strong leadership, communication, problem-solving and organizational skills.

 

Responsibilities Specific to the Assistant Sales Manager Include, But are not limited to:

? Supporting the achievement of Company sales and profitability goals by taking the initiative in driving the Customer Loyalty Program, Special Orders, Corporate Sales, kiosk sales; achieving all sales related goals.

? Acting as a role model and holding employees accountable for meeting Company customer service standards.

? Assisting in managing all staff members in an effort to achieve Company goals, ensuring adherence to Company policies and establishing an ownership culture by recruiting, interviewing, selecting and training employees based on manpower planning.

? providing oral and written feedback to the staff as directed by Store Management.

? Supporting the achievement all operational standards to impact profitability by implementing prescribed marketing programs and merchandising standards.

? Ensuring adherence to Company standards with respect to loss prevention, audit, shrink, hours, inventory management, budgets and all operational procedures.

? Supporting and executing the differing strategies associated with effectively running kiosk businesses. 

? Sharing ownership in providing performance feedback to staff with Store Manager/ General Manager which includes: completing written performance appraisals and conducting performance appraisal discussions on a timely basis; conducting coaching sessions for development and problem performance; and implementing performance improvement process and termination practices when necessary.

? Analyzing written, electronic and verbal information regarding sales, customer loyalty program, hours, customer service, budgets, inventory management, and operational indicators to maximize store performance; taking necessary steps to achieve store goals.

 

Job Qualifications

? Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
