Assistant Store Manager - San Diego Area

Position Summary Stein Mart, a national off-price retailer, is currently seeking a fun, fashionable, fresh and friendly person to join our Store Team as an Assistant Store Manager. We are looking for someone to create a store culture focused on customer service; Partner with store management to achieve business results; Select, supervise and develop staff and direct store operational and merchandising areas.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Creating a shared vision of service at Stein Mart, Modeling a positive customer service spirit, Exhibiting a friendly and helpful attitude with customers and associates; Working with Associates throughout the store to achieve service standards; Maintaining an appealing store environment; Using Stein Mart?s merchandising guidelines and directives to create inviting merchandise displays; Creating an empowering environment; Building relationships that foster a healthy team environment; Providing information and communicating effectively; Making informed decisions and developing a thorough knowledge of Stein Mart?s policies and procedures; Partnering with the Store management Team to interview, select and hire Associates; Using Stein Mart training and development resources to develop job skills, providing information and demonstrating skills to help others learn; Supervising and coordinating Store activities; Developing weekly store schedules; Preparing plans to reach objectives; Contributing to creating a safe and secure store environment; Managing the merchandising areas to optimize selling space and maximize selling potential; Maintaining human resource documentation and reporting; Supervising Cash Office procedures; Maintaining an efficient and effective Receiving Department.

 

Preferred Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent (GED) required, Associate?s or Bachelor?s degree preferred; 2 to 4 years applicable retail work experience, including a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience; Demonstrated expertise in retail skills (merchandising and operational skills), numeric reasoning to include proficiency in adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and calculating percentages. Computer keyboard knowledge and experience using a computer in a Windows environment, using e-mail and using the internet; Exhibit a strong interest in working with people; Comfortable with change, enjoys variety in work and thrives on creating novel solutions; Experience in a leadership role with supervisory capacity; Results oriented with a willingness to follow through, make informed decisions, complete tasks and problem solve; Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing; Exhibited attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy; Moderate physical effort required, Standing and walking will constitute 95% or more of a work shift; Ability to relocate.
