Assistant Store Manager

General Summary:

Store Management positions are responsible for the financial, human resource, customer service, inventory and operational management of the store.  As the Assistant Store Manager, you will assist the Store Manager in leading daily operations to ensure optimal levels of customer service and productivity.  You will also share responsibility for training and motivating employees and act as the Store Manager in his or her absence.

 

 Summary of Responsibilities:

? Role model customer service and handle all customer and employee concerns timely and efficiently.

? Maintain and ensure safety standards and properly follow all policies and procedures.

? Create and maintain an atmosphere geared to achieve sales and profit goals.

? Determine and communicate individual sales goals and hold staff accountable for results in accordance with business practices.

? Identify and communicate merchandise assortment opportunities to the District Manager on a consistent basis.

? Maintain and grow customer database for phone calls, product launches, and events.

? Manage time effectively by establishing priorities and delegating effectively to meet goals and objectives.

? Maintain a cohesive, cooperative work environment through team building, motivation and coaching.

? Ensure that all training programs for selling skills, customer service, products and operations meet proficiency.

? Follow and implement all corporate visual presentation standards and guidelines.

? Support the Store Manager in the general daily functions of store management and communicate with him or her on a regular, ongoing basis about all issues and questions.

 

 Qualifications:

? 1 year of previous experience as an assistant manager in a retail store. Specialty store experience preferred.

? Strong leadership, communication and operational skills.

? Ability to lead and motivate the team to achieve sales goals and store operating standards.

? Passion for gardening, or horticulture knowledge a plus.

? PC literate

? Ability to lift 40 lbs and carry up to 50 yards

? Must be able to work in a vigorous physical manner, standing or walking 90% of the workday.
