BUYER - OUTDOOR FURNITURE

Our client is a major northeastern US retailer area with over 50 years in business. Located in the New York metropolitan area and with continuous growth, the company is seeking a talented, experienced Buyer who will be responsible for the procurement of high volume, high end home furnishings in the outdoor furniture category.

Successful candidates will possess product-specific experience in this category.  The entire category is roughly $80 million. Our client will consider Buyers as well as ?Product Development? types. 

The successful candidate will be making trips to China and Europe and working directly with the manufacturers/vendors, doing overseas factory visits during runs and developing new lines of private label outdoor goods. 

 

Responsibilities: 
Selection, purchase and delivery of categories within the designated product lines.
3+ years of outdoor/indoor buying experience is preferred 
Relationship-building with the vendor community.
Negotiations with the vendor community.
Development and monitoring of key financial data (sales, gross margin, turns, etc.).
A keen eye for spotting trends in the designated product areas and a strong fashion consciousness.
Supervision of an Assistant Buyer.
