Buyer / Merchandiser

Avalon Bay Company is a collection of 5 Upscale Retail clothing stores located on Catalina Island, CA.

Responsibilities
Full-time merchandise buyer for well established Women?s and Men?s high-end casual wear and apparel stores on Catalina Island. Purchase clothing lines and gift merchandise for resort operation. Ensure store has proper inventory levels for busy and off seasons. Keep lines fresh and interesting to maintain a high level of sales volume. Maintain open to buy for all seasons. Facilitate special orders / customer satisfaction. Ensure merchandise purchased is displayed effectively in store. Promote norms that ensure an environment of productivity, excellent customer service, teamwork and fun.
Tasks
1. Attend appropriate trade shows to seek out new merchandise.
2. Meet with current vendors to view lines and set up deliveries of merchandise.
3. Analyze purchases from previous years / seasons to effectively buy for upcoming year / season. (Maintain Open to Buy)
4. Work directly with store managers and staff to gather information about sales trends in the stores.
5. Create all purchase orders and follow through with orders.
6. Work with vendors to create effective in store promotions (Trunk Shows, etc.)
7. Ensure lines are appropriate to store theme and level of quality.
8. Maximize gross margins / reduce discounted sales.
9. Have a ?whatever it takes? attitude to get the job done.
